Analysis of final music video

When relating to Goodwins 6 points I have
  • Demonstrated the genre of the video (indie rock) by presenting a band image -with the performance of the band.
  • There is a concept of a relationships between lyrics and visuals such as the shots of Tamara and Joe- alongside a "film grain" effect shows memories and a past relationship- connection with the lyrics. Also a literal visual of the lead singer running in the line "I want to run away away"
  • There is a visual style of the main lead singer- including close ups and extreme close ups to show the main focus, also the lead singer is part of the video throughout.
  • There is a hint of a voyeuristic approach to lead singer with the use of camera movement and angle.
  • The intertextual reference I have referred to is a paramore music video.
The audience Feedback was very positive comments include:
  • "Shows a clear concept and style of a indie rock genre"
  • "The use of camera angle and movement was effective"
  • "Really liked the main focus on the lead singer, Tamara"
  • "Liked the setting of the band performance"
Therefore, overall I believe my music video worked well, it had a concept of a indie rock style and showed band persona- relating to the Star theory.

When comparing my animatic to my final music video:

Overall I had

64 shots!

-The reason for the many shots towards the end of the song was because I wanted to end with fast paced editing- to go with the fast beat of the song, repeating many of the shots from the song to conclude with a long shot which was slow motion for the ending.

Settings used for final video

For the final music video I chose these locations as they added variety to my video. Furthermore, they all reflect the indie genre (from previous research I carried out) and have meaning towards each setting.

Outside-Garden

This is where the band will perform- I chose to relocate the band to give a more quirky and edgeyness to the video and the band persona

The bathroom:

The bathroom was a ideal location as it had good lighting for this scene, also it reflected home aspect- likewise to Paramore videos, what's more it reminded me of many horror scenes in movies, thus as the lead singer is angry about the boy (in the lyrics) it reflected the song and anger towards the lyrics.

Alleyway:

For part of the video the lyrics mention running away from the problems, therefore I filmed part of my video of Tamara literally running. I decided to shoot this scene in a alleyway as it was an ideal place to do it, plus it was quite a dull day therefore using pathetic fallacy to reflect the mood.

Bed/bedroom
I chose a bedroom scene, not to create the usual sexual voyerism, but I was inspired to do a high angle shot from researching paramore videos and the bed seemed a girly scene to shoot and showing a somewhat personal aspect to the video and my audience.

Parkbench
This scene is typical of any indie genre video, this reflecting the memories -to link with lyrics - what's more park bench's always seemed to be associated with romance and young love, therefore was a perfect setting to be.

Swings

Personally, swings remind me of young love and youthfulness therefore this reflected the memories.

Rough Cut 2

Due to the refilm of my video I had to change the band members therefore there was a new drummer- Murphy and Jess was cut as bassist.
The new location was filmed in a back garden in the evening to represent a interesting scene and enabled me to use several different shots.
